I received my first camera at age 14 and became
intrigued by how a series of photographic images can
create a visual journal.
Later, I spent years working in the independent film and communications industry. This experience taught me how to interpret events and
meanings visually to tell a story. I believe that the wedding story includes not only portraits and candids, but also images that evoke the
day's mood: the flowers, a father's kiss, a glance, and the bride's jewelry on the dresser. By combining narrative and interpretive images,
this beautiful story is told. I never want to just record faces and great compositions. I want to help the viewer enter into a moment that is
full of life and emotion.
The wedding day signifies the beginning of a life's journey and every bride wants to get it right. I strive to make sure that the client
feels comfortable and knows the photography is in great hands. It's important to capture these moments of intimacy and joy in a flexible,
sensitive, and unobtrusive way.
I'm excited to be an assistant with this studio because I know that the artists at New Image are talented, passionate, creative, and
professional. I wouldn't feel comfortable working anywhere else! Check out our blog for some of Melissa's most recent work!
