As a former teacher of young children and a student of psychology, I’m also interested in the study of people through photography. I love to capture the life that animates the child and to reveal the special bonds that exist between family members. While we all share some common elements, each child is unique, with features, expressions and a spirit that together are a work of art.
But photography is not just a visual art form. Photography offers a rare combination of visual and narrative arts. Pictures really do tell a story and often bring with them a feeling for what the times were like when the picture was taken. Through photography, we’re able to keep the age-old, human tradition of storytelling alive through visual means. That’s why I always think of professional photography as an heirloom. A photograph can capture a moment in time and allow it live into the future through the eyes of children and grandchildren, or even great grandchildren.
